Charlestown is a historic harbour town on the South Cornwall coast and a great place to visit. You can walk around the harbour and enjoy the fine view across St Austell Bay and there is often interesting old ships in harbour. There are also two small beaches. There are cafe's, shops and a museum. Charlestown is approximately 38 miles from Plymouth. Take the A38 and A390 to St Austell. At St Austell turn off at the Mount Charles roundabout where signposted to Charlestown and follow this road down to Charlestown. There is a small car park above the harbour.
