10 photos of Hound Tor, Dartmoor
Information image
Hound Tor is a tor on the east of Dartmoor. The tor is a short walk from a car park and on the eastern slopes of Hound Tor there is a deserted medieval village which can be visited. There are a number of routes to Hound Tor, probably the easiest route is to turn off on the A38 several miles east of Ashburton where signposted to Newton Abbot. Instead of taking the road to Newton Abbot turn off onto a minor road signposted to Widecombe and follow this road up onto Dartmoor. Where this road joins the B3387, turn left onto the B3387 and then take the next right where signposted to Hound Tor and Manaton. Keep on this road for a couple of miles to Swallerton Gate where there is a right turning to the Hound Tor car park.
