9 photos of Bowermans Nose, Dartmoor

Bowermans Nose is an unusual rock outcrop on Hayne Down which is open access moorland on the east of Dartmoor. There are a number of routes to Hayne Down, probably the easiest route is to turn off on the A38 several miles east of Ashburton where signposted to Newton Abbot. Instead of taking the road to Newton Abbot turn off onto a minor road signposted to Widecombe and follow this road up onto Dartmoor. Where this road joins the B3387 turn left onto the B3387 and then take the next right where signposted to Hound Tor and Manaton. Keep on this road for a couple of miles to Swallerton Gate and here take the second right onto a narrow lane and follow this lane up onto Hayne Down. Note that there is a gate across the road which needs to be opened in order to drive onto Hayne Down. On Hayne Down park by the road and then walk up the hill to Bowermans Nose.
